Toys R Us: Here’s How to Cash in on Liquidation Sales

by SaleWW

Toys R Us stores will sadly soon be a thing of the past. Toy R Us started the liquidation process and here is the latest:

A company spokesperson told USA TODAY Toys R Us will honor gift cards for the next 30 days only. The outstanding amount on Toys R US gift cards is unclear, but it’s certain they will be worthless in no time.

Customer and loyalty programs, which include includes Rewards R Us, Geoffrey’s Birthday List and the Babies R Us registry, will only be active for the next few weeks.
Soon, the Toys R Us shelves will become a wasteland of reject toys. Many will fly off the shelves in the first day of sales.

Some people are reporting that their Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores have started clearance sales with 40% on baby gear, although there aren’t any stellar deals yet. Some other people are reporting that their stores don’t have clearance sales yet as of today. But keep in mind the most popular items will go first. There should be deeper discounts as we approach 5/14, which is the deadline for all 735 stores to be closed. But the selection then won’t be as large as in the beginning.

Keep checking back, we will be posting updates.

Some tips to make the most of clearance sales:
– Make a list and keep a budget in mind.
– Remember: All sales are final with liquidation sales.
– Buy larger sizes for kids and toys for older kids. If you’re buying for Christmas, remember the kids will be 9 months older than they are now.
– Know the Sale Schedule for your store: Store managers typically know the discounting schedule in advance so call your local store for the sales schedule.
– Prepare for a lot of people. A lot of people are looking for deals, don’t let the mob mentality force you into a purchase you don’t need.

We will keep you posted as new development happen in regards to liquidation sales.
